2.6 Challenge

We’ve got Faith in your generosity to help us with our 2.6 Challenge.

The current coronavirus crisis is having a devastating effect on charities, with fundraising events cancelled and billions of pounds lost.

So when The Nick Smith Foundation announced a new challenge that can be done from home and online, our generous team at Faith PR were keen to get involved.

The foundation was set up in memory of Nick Smith, from Lightcliffe, who died from Motor Neurone Disease just two weeks after his 38th birthday. Father-of-two Nick loved Rugby League, playing for Leeds Rhino Academy and Sheffield Eagles as well as leading amateur side Siddal ARLFC, where he was club captain for many years and made more than 400 appearances.

The foundation raises money for research into Motor Neurone Disease, as well as supporting bereaved children while supporting community and junior rugby league.

It is joining the 2.6 Challenge, a national initiative to save the UK’s charitable causes. Activities must be based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 – the only rules are that social distancing guidelines must be observed.

We’ve come up with some tough challenges with the hope of raising at least £500 for this wonderful cause.

These include our MD Stefanie Hopkins running 26 miles across the course of a week. A dedicated runner with many a win under her belt, Stef is ready for the challenge. Her daughter Mia is also joining in – with a run of 26 back flips!

Account directors Emily Raleigh and Gill Bowker are both taking on dance challenges, Emily for 26 minutes with her daughter Eliza and Gill for the same amount of time with her daughters Olivia and Lucy.

Account manager Kate Wobschall will complete a 26-mile horse ride – at home, on her own horses, Maggie and Bliss. The pair would usually be competing at shows up and down the country at this time of year so both are fit and raring to go. Her son Sami is also joining in but not in the saddle – he’ll be doing 26 minutes of dances from the video game Fortnite.

Account executive Abigail Henderson will stage her own bake-off challenge by making 26 buns. Accomplished baker Abigail often brings home-made treats in for the team – although sadly, on this occasion, we won’t able to share them!

Social medial account manager Kirsty Perkins will perform 26 squats each day for 26 consecutive days, while senior account manager Lauren Mackenzie will also take on a fitness challenge, completing 26 yoga poses every day. Office administrator Freya Lovedale will walk and run 26 miles with her dogs.
