Rebecca Bamford joined Faith PR while studying a masters degree at Leeds Beckett University. Here, she shares how she has found her time with us.

“My name is Rebecca, I am currently a masters student studying PR and Strategic Communication at Leeds Beckett University” was written in my very first email when I was inquiring about a work placement at Faith PR. I thought this was the best way to introduce myself, since I’d never met Stefanie Hopkins and hadn’t communicated with many PR professionals before, but to be honest, I really wasn’t sure of what to write.

Thankfully, my email got a great response as I was asked to come into the office to be interviewed. The interview went well and hey presto; I had officially and successfully got my first ever working position in PR. To say I was excited is an understatement – I was over the moon.

Starting a new job is always stressful, but I honestly can’t describe how nervous I was to start working at Faith PR and enter the working world of PR. However, I eventually got over my nerves after going into the office several times and being greeted kindly every time I went in.

Keeping calm through the stress

The work environment at Faith PR is something that I have enjoyed the most, although I did find it hard being sat down all day, since I’d never had an office job before. PR can be super-demanding at times and very stressful, but despite that, I noticed that everyone keeps calm and doesn’t raise their voice to one another. This might sound like a really obvious thing to point out, but actually not all work places are like this. I love that at Faith PR, there is a mutual level of respect for one another even if you are mega stressed.

Agility obsessed

I had no idea that Agility existed until I started working at Faith. Abi taught me how to use this efficient tool of finding journalists, contacts etc. I know it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but I actually really enjoy using it and oddly find it therapeutic…

It got to the point that I was regularly asking to update media lists for clients, just so I could use the tool more.

Media lists are another thing that I didn’t have much knowledge of before I came to the agency. Thanks to Faith PR, I now have a great understanding of their importance for clients and that they need to be frequently updated.

Social media calendars

During my Masters, I have learned about content marketing, how each company’s social media content is unique to them and how companies adopt different tones. Having the opportunity to create social media calendars for real clients has definitely been one of my favourite things to do. Not only because it has allowed me to implement the things I have been taught into a real life situation, but it has also allowed me to use my creative skills. Being able to be creative at work is something that I have always enjoyed and valued.

I particularly enjoyed making the social media calendars for Oriental Direct. I am a keen crafter, so it was great to create content for a company which I personally can relate to.

The importance of blogging

I have also learned how important blogging is for every single company nowadays. Whether they manufacture pharmaceutical products or sell crafting items, blogging is a necessity for companies to enhance themselves digitally. Faith has allowed me to implement and enhance my skills by writing blogs for a range of clients.

Thank you

I’ve learned a great deal whilst working for Faith PR and it has been a really enjoyable experience. Thank you to everyone for being so welcoming, guiding me through things and for teaching me many new skills.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
