Yorkshire artist Roger Davies has featured on a brand-new BBC One TV show hosted by Nick Knowles.

‘Home Is Where The Art Is’ sees three artists compete for the chance to create a piece of unique artwork for a mystery buyer’s home.

Three artists initially visit the home of a potential buyer to glean inspiration before delivering a pitch of their idea. The buyer then chooses two of the three to create their artwork before finally selecting which they would like to purchase.

Brighouse based Roger, makes it through to the final stage and is invited to create one of his distinctive paintings for the mystery buyer.

Roger’s painting, Dream Home, was up against the work of a sculptor to win the purchasing family’s approval. Unable to choose between the two very different works, the family decided to buy both, purchasing Dream Home for £950.

Despite initially training as an artist, Roger has enjoyed a 16-year career as a musician.

However, when he turned 40 in September 2017, he could not ignore the urge to pick up the paintbrush again.

“I still love music and play live in concert with my band as much as possible,” he said. “But I kept noticing things on my travels and thinking ‘that would make a good painting’. Eventually I just couldn’t resist the urge to paint again.

“When I saw a post on social media inviting applications for the show, I thought it would be a great opportunity and decided to go for it.”

The first episode of ‘Home Is Where The Art Is’ was screened on Monday (April 8th) with the episode featuring Roger broadcast today (Tuesday 9th April).
