This week saw the TOP 555 showroom in Oakham, Rutland, take stock of a true British classic.

Land Rover® Defender® specialist Twisted Automotive, based in North Yorkshire, has offered TOP 555 the rare opportunity to stock a vehicle from its limited line of Classic Twisted vehicles

With an esteemed international reputation, Twisted specialises in making extensive improvements to standard Land Rover® Defender® vehicles, after founder Charles Fawcett purchased the last remaining vehicles from the Defender® production line just under two years ago.

Twisted’s customer base ranges from local farmers, who require a utilitarian vehicle, right across to overseas royalty, who enjoy the luxurious side of Twisted’s work, and sales are usually completed at the business’s headquarters in Thirsk.

But this partnership sees the expertly re-engineered Defender® join Top 555’s other rare and iconic supercars, including Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, Lamborghini, on the forecourt in Rutland.

About the Classic Twisted

Combining engineering excellence, a passion for performance, and unrivalled hand-detailing, the limited edition Classic Twisted range comprises a selection of the last ever Defender® vehicles to roll off the production line.

And while Twisted Automotive is traditionally known for re-engineering the Defender® to the exacting specification of each customer; the Classic Twisted distils the most necessary enhancements into a subtle, yet enjoyable, drive-away vehicle.

The result is a true celebration of the Land Rover® Defender® that acknowledges the heritage of the vehicle, while embracing the spirit of the Anti-Ordinary by improving its overall performance.

Currently, build number 11 from the initial line of 20 is with TOP 555, and the business has indicated that it may seek to take vehicles in the future, following huge initial interest from local Defender® fans and supercar enthusiasts alike.

Twisted founder and managing director, Charles Fawcett has been friends with his TOP 555 counterpart Charles Freimuth since Fawcett first opened for business in Thirsk in 2001, and Freimuth is a huge admirer of the brand, having purchased his own Special Order Loire Blue Twisted in 2016.

TOP 555 Director, Charles Freimuth, said: “We actually opened the doors at TOP 555 around the same time that Twisted first started trading, and since then, both companies have flown the flag for performance motoring and outstanding automotive design.

“Since arriving on site, Classic Twisted number 11 has proved a huge hit with our customers, and the vehicles are hugely sought after by our client profile, who can otherwise typically be found behind the wheel of the likes of a McLaren 675 or Porsche 911 Turbo.”

Twisted Automotive managing director, Charles Fawcett, said: “Charles shares my own passion for automotive excellence, and has a genuine affinity for what Twisted Automotive produces. His own range of cars is exceptional and our number 11 is in superb company at TOP 555.

“This partnership will allow us to put Twisted in front of a wider, highly-relevant customer base, while helping to enhance TOP 555’s already stellar line-up of vehicles.”
